The Point Break Comedy & Meatball Sammich Festival

March 20-24th!

A pop-up comedy festival featuring headliners Mav Viola (Two Dykes & a Mic Tour; Boston Women in Comedy Festival), Kiry Shabazz (Comedy Central; The Tonight Show) Brent Weinbach (Comedy Central; Amazon; Andy Kaufman Award Winner); Curtis Cook (Jim Jeffries Show) and over 30 national and regional comedians, improvisors and local drag queen favorites.  

The festival lineup includes showcases of LGBTQIA standups headlined by Mav Viola; a new headlining set from Brent Weinbach; a professional wrestling-themed Midnight Melee where the victor will earn a spot on the festival closing show; multiple comedy brunches at Sukis Legendary Bar and Grill; Heavy Metal Bingo with Death Hammer Improv featuring Open Mic Gary Busey; meatball sandwiches and so much more.

Festival Passes start at $24.99 and give you admission to over 16 comedy shows from March 20 – March 24 including:

– “Mav Viola Has a Queer Posse”: A showcase of LGBTIQA comedians headlined by Mav Viola. 3/21 @ Funhouse Lounge. Included with festival pass or 9:30 PM, $10 at the door.

– “Man, Fuck These Jokes”: Kiry Shabazz headlines an evening of audience-engagement comedy (crowd work, baby!) with Mav Viola, Laci Daze, and more. 3/21 @ Funhouse. Included with festival pass or 11 PM. $10 at the door.

– “Brent Weinbach & More”: Mr. Weinbach returns to Portland with 45 minutes of mostly fresh material along with special guests Corina Lucas, Steven Wilber, Tory Ward and Aaron Klopfer. 3/22 @ Funhouse, 9:30 PM. Included with festival pass or $15 at the door.

– “Midnight Melee”: Celebrity commentators Armando Torres (the Comedy Store), Jake Silberman (Willamete Week Funniest), and headliner Mav Viola along with audience vote crown a “Festival Champ” in this WWE-inspired comedy Battle Roayale featuring over 20 festival and local comedians.  The Champ earns themselves a coveted spot on the Festival Closing Show.  3/22 @ Funhouse, 11:59 PM. Included with festival pass or $10 at the door.

– “Mav Viola Has a Posse”: The Marvelous Mav Viola (2 Dykes & A Mic Tour) headlines a showcase of performers so diverse they would give your homophobic uncle a seizure.  Featuring: Pallavi Gunalan (a bisexual from Los Angeles), Curtis Cook (a biracial comedy writer for the Jim Jeffries Show), Quinne Samaleh (a half-Palestinian, lesbian mother) and more! Included with festival pass or 3/23 at Funhouse, 9:30 PM. $15 at the door.

– “Imma Leave You With This: Festival Edition”: Nashville Transplants Coor Cohen and Riley Fox host a raucous late-night showcase highlighting out-of-town festival guests and local stalwarts.  3/23 at Funhouse, 11:30 PM. Included with festival pass or $10 at the door. 

– “Heavy Metal Bingo with Death Hammer”: Death Hammer Improv (SF Sketchfest) host a metal as fuck early evening of bingo. Metal prizes. Metal drinks. Metal bingo-dobbers. 3/24 @ Funhouse Lounge 4 PM. Included with Festival Pass or $5 at the door.

– “New Persona, Who Dis?”: Brent Weinbach headlines a character-based comedy show with Phil Schallberger; Lydia Manning; Open Mic Gary Busey, and Jay Shingle. 

– “Festival Closing Show”: All your festival favorites close out the fest with a bang-bang, laugh-laugh. 9:00 PM @ Funhouse Lounge, 9 PM. Free with festival pass or $15 at the door.

Also included in the festival pass: priority admission to over ten more festival partner shows at Ground Kontrol; Alberta Street Pub; Harvey’s Comedy Club; The Nest; Ford Food & Drink; and the return of comedy to festival sponsor: Suki’s Bar and Grill.

NOT INCLUDED: Admission to Point Break: LIVE at Funhouse Lounge, but festival pass holders get you a discount to this scripted parody of Point Break where each night an audience member auditions for the role of Keanu Reeves! Thursday-Saturday, 7:00 PM Funhouse.
