Auditions! Cry-Baby the Musical

Funhouse Lounge is excited to announce auditions for its upcoming show “Cry-Baby, the Musical”

Description of the show: “Cry-Baby” is a musical based on the 1990 John Waters film of the same name. The musical focuses on Baltimore teenager Allison Vernon-Williams, who is drawn across the tracks from her 1954 finishing-school background into a relationship with the orphaned Wade “Cry-Baby” Walker, the leader of a pack of rebel outcasts.

Auditions will be held on Saturday, Dec 30th from 1-4pm, and Sunday, Dec 31st from 2-4pm, with callbacks during the following week. Please have 32 bars of a song ready. Song should showcase your talents and be appropriate to the show we are doing. Bring sheet music, an accompanist will be provided. Roles will be open to all genders, colors, body types, and orientations.

Show dates are tentatively scheduled for Thursdays-Saturdays, March 7th thru March 30th, 2024, at 7pm. The rehearsal schedule will begin around January 15th. Rehearsals will be Mon-Wed at 6:30-9pm, and Sat/Sun 1-4pm.

It’s two years after the events of “Grease,” and Rydell High has a new crop of seniors entering a new decade; the 60s! Pink Ladies’ leader Stephanie has broken up with top T-Bird Johnny over the summer, but he wants her back. British exchange student  Michael Carrington is also interested, but he isn’t cool or dangerous enough for her. Frenchy, the original beauty school dropout, returns and tries to help him transform into the bad boy of Stephanie’s dreams, but will it be enough? 

Based on the 1982 Michelle Pfeiffer film, songs like Cool Rider, Reproduction, Let’s Do It for Our Country, and Prowlin’ make this beloved sequel the perfect back-to-school treat. If you like motorcycles, bowling, bomb shelters, teen hormones, air raid drills, high-speed chases, talent shows, Shakespeare, and sex-ed class, you’ll love this cult classic.

Grease 2 Auditions!

It’s 2 years after the events of “Grease”, and Rydell High has a new crop of seniors entering a new decade; the 60s! Motorcycles, bowling, a bomb shelter, teen hormones, air raid drills, a talent show, and sex-ed class all combine to make this cult classic sizzle. Based on the 1982 film featuring Michelle Pfeiffer in her first starring role, this is a full-blown musical with several big group dance numbers and 13 catchy songs.

Auditions will be held on Saturday, July 22nd from 1-4pm and Sunday, July 23rd from 2-4pm, with callbacks during the following week.

Please have ready a light-hearted monologue (around 1 minute), as well as 32 bars of a song. Song should be rock’n’roll, not musical theater. Bring sheet music, there will be an accompanist present.

Our talented cast of Funhouse improvisors will portray a collection of your favorite literary characters and create a storyline based on your suggestions.

Will Harriet the Spy beat Lisbeth Salander at arm wrestling?

Will Sherlock Holmes hook up with Jane Eyre? 

Will Holden Caulfield give everyone henna tattoos?

These are only a few of the millions of possible scenarios.

And since it’s improvised, even we don’t know what will happen. So come find out what happens between the pages.
